Ultra Health Partners with Edibles Council

Medical Cannabis, edibles, new mexico

NM’s largest medical cannabis company committed to patient education

Ultra Health, a national medical cannabis leader with a large New Mexico presence, becomes the first medical cannabis provider in New Mexico to partner with the Oregon Responsible Edibles Council, (OREC). OREC, formed in late 2015, is a non-profit trade association of Oregon edible cannabis processors, with a mission of educating the public regarding the safe and responsible usage of edible cannabis products for adults 21 and over.

Ultra Health will be joining other Oregon-based dispensaries and edible cannabis organizations in sponsoring the responsible use of edible cannabis products. Ultra Health believes patient education must become a priority, as the medical cannabis program in New Mexico has grown nearly 80% to 25,000 patients in the past year and will continue to grow.

Ultra Health will be promoting OREC’s initial campaign, the “Try 5” campaign, which urges new and frequent cannabis consumers to educate themselves on serving sizes for edible cannabis products. The campaign, launched earlier this year, encourages cannabis consumers to “Know Your Dose” and start with no more than 5 milligrams (mg) of THC. By doing so, Try 5 aims to prevent accidental over-ingestion for consumers new to cannabis-infused edibles.

Ultra Health intends to initially introduce the Try 5 campaign in New Mexico and then expand to Nevada and other markets as appropriate.

Ultra Health will promote OREC’s Try 5 campaign by providing educational materials at its dispensary locations. “OREC is taking an innovative and positive approach to patient awareness on the responsible use of medical grade cannabis.” Said, Duke Rodriguez, President and CEO of Ultra Health. “Incorporating best practices is the duty of every emerging industry. The Washington and Oregon cannabis markets have made great strides and we should utilize their valuable experience whenever possible.”

“OREC is incredibly excited to partner with Ultra Health to bring the Try 5 campaign to New Mexico,” David McNicoll, OREC’s President said. “Strong support from within the cannabis industry is our best asset for continuing to educate the general public regarding safe edible consumption, and we are honored to have Ultra Health help us spread that message.”
