Endocannabinoid System

The Endocannabinoid System is found throughout the human body, in the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells. This system is responsible for regulating physiological processes such as memory, mood, appetite, pain sensation, and more. The Endocannabinoid System is comprised of cannabinoid receptors which are activated by cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant.

Cannabinoids

Cannabinoids are active compounds found within the cannabis plant. These compounds are responsible for the medicinal and uplifting effects people experience when they use cannabis. Along with the most-commonly discussed cannabinoids THC and CBD, there are more than 100 different cannabinoids found within cannabis that each provide different effects due to their ability to act on the cannabinoid receptors found in The Endocannabinoid System.

THC

THC, or Tetrahydrocannabinol, is a cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. THC gives users a
“high” or euphoric feeling after it is used. Medical cannabis products with high THC content can ease pain, help with relaxation, relieve nausea, slow inflammation, reduce anxiety, and more.

CBD

CBD, also known as Cannabidiol, is a cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. CBD has many therapeutic benefits which are produced without the “high” cannabis users experience with THC products. CBD can produce benefits such as pain relief, reduction of epileptic seizures, lowered blood sugar levels, suppression of muscle spasms and convulsions, and more.

Strain:

A strain is a variety of cannabis cultivated for its specific characteristics. Strains are typically named after properties of the cannabis variety such as smell, color, and origin of the variety. Some strains may be cultivated specifically for their high THC or CBD potency levels.

Terpenes

Terpenes are oils that give cannabis distinct aromas and flavors. Commonly found in fruits and vegetables, different terpenes can be beneficial by aiding in sleep, relieving anxiety, relaxing the muscles, acting as a sedative, and more.
