New Mexico’s #1 Cannabis Company begins building state-of-the-art location in Union County
(Albuquerque) – Ultra Health, New Mexico’s #1 Cannabis Company, will break ground on the state’s first custom build-to-suit cannabis dispensary today in Clayton, New Mexico.
The dispensary, located off US-87 in the most heavily trafficked area in Northeastern New Mexico, is estimated to bring in millions in revenue once the state legalizes cannabis for social use. Much of the estimated revenue is expected to come from out-of-state tourism due to Union County bordering Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado.
The new 2,680-foot Ultra Health dispensary will open in January 2019, expanding Ultra Health’s footprint to 13 counties statewide.
Another county along a state border, Las Animas County in Colorado borders New Mexico and boasts the highest per capita sales of cannabis in the state.
“Once cannabis becomes available for social use in New Mexico, border towns will have an increased opportunity to bring in cannabis revenues through tourism, similar to the experience of Trinidad, Colorado in Las Animas County,” said Duke Rodriguez, CEO and President of Ultra Health®. “It is imperative we capitalize on the opportunity to provide visitors with quality cannabis, which will indefinitely boost the New Mexican economy in ways it desperately needs.”
In 2016 and 2017, the city of Trinidad has collected $4.3 million in tax revenue from cannabis sales. The increased traffic from New Mexico and Texas has boosted local hospitality and restaurant businesses in the area, and cannabis revenues have gone toward redeveloping the city.
A groundbreaking ceremony and media press conference for the Ultra Health Clayton store will be held at 1 p.m. on October 24 at 524 S. 1st Street, Clayton, New Mexico, 88415.
