Ultra Health, the state’s leading medical cannabis provider, will host a sock drive at all it’s dispensaries during the first week of November through December 20. As part of Ultra Health’s corporate giving program, it is committed to giving back to the communities it serves, and will match each pair of socks donated.
The number one needed clothing item for the homeless is socks, as people very rarely donate them. Socks can make a world of difference for someone in need. New socks reduce the risk of skin infections, prevent frostbite and foster good hygiene.
“Success for an organization should not be defined by what we get, but by what we give,” said Duke Rodriguez, CEO and President of Ultra Health®. “The Lynn and Erin Compassionate Use Act was created to provide compassion and relief to those in need. We would like to extend this commitment by helping the charities serving less fortunate New Mexicans.”
Donations will be allocated to nine charities across New Mexico. The charities include Joy Junction, St. Martin’s Hospitality Center, Safe House, Bienvenidos Outreach, Many Mothers, Haven House and Hobbs Health Care Center.
More about the charities:
Joy Junction is a faith-based ministry offering emergency and short-term essentials for the homeless. They provide food, clothing, counseling, transportation and shelter to women, children and families. Also located in Albuquerque is St. Martin’s Hospitality Center, which provides services for mental and behavioral health, therapy and recovery, housing, emergency support and employment to the homeless or near homeless. Safe House is a shelter for victims of domestic violence in Albuquerque.
In Santa Fe, Bienvenidos Outreach accepts food and monetary donations for the homeless. Many Mothers provides assistance to mothers of infants across New Mexico in the form of babysitting services and other essentials.
Haven House is the only domestic violence services provider and emergency shelter that serves all of Sandoval County. Located in Rio Rancho, Haven House provides services such as temporary housing, case management, support groups, counseling and more. Hobbs Health Care Center is an assisted living facility serving Lea county.
